LeEco joins ‘Make in India’ initiative with the launch of a Manufacturing Facility in Greater Noida

LeEco which entered the smartphone market earlier this year has seen a good growth in Indian market. It is one of the most popular online brands in India. Today, LeEco has joined India Government’s “Make in India” initiative and inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in Greater Noida, India.

LeEco is starting with the small capacity of 60000 devices per month and will increase this number in coming months. This facility has been set up at a significant investment of 5 million USD For the setup of this, LeEco has collaborated with Compal Electronics. This facility is located in Greater Noida and is spread over an area of 200.000 square feet.

The Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad was also present in the inauguration.

The minister said, “With the objective of making India the manufacturing hub for electronics, the Indian Government has undertaken various initiatives to create a conducive businesses environment. As the market size for electronics is expected to grow to US$400 billion by 2020, it is imperative to promote indigenous manufacturing. LeEco is a name of global reputation and it is heartening to see it align with “Make in India” just after entering India eight months earlier. We laud their efforts of training local talents and building a center of R&D excellence in the country.”

Along with this announcement, LeEco also shared its recently achieved milestones. It just crossed 1 million sales volume for smartphones in India. For a new company, crossing 1 million marks in just 8 months is really a big achievement. LeEco Le 1S and LeEco Le 2, both phones saw good sales due to low cost but high performance. Recently, the company also launched its Super TVs in India.
