Today, UCWeb announced its new UC News app exclusively for India. This app is powered by big data technology and aims to be one stop destination of curated news content in all popular categories. Along with this new app, company has also launched an upgraded UC Browser.

UCWeb, a unit of Alibaba Mobile Business Group, confirmed that UC browser has 80 million monthly active users in India. If we trust on StatCounter data, UC Browser has around 58% market share as of May 2016. UC browser is already most popular browser in India. Company will use the popularity of its browser to get more users for its UC News app.

Commenting on the new strategy, Kenny Ye, General Manager of UCWeb, Alibaba Mobile Business Group said, “Digital content consumption is on the rise and the challenge is how we can customize, curate and present diverse content to users. Content providers face difficulties in distributing content of different formats, while consumers are swamped by an information overload. Our answer to these challenges is to position ourselves as a content aggregator. The newly launched UC News and upgraded UC Browser for India are two contemporary products embedded with the aim of content aggregation.”

UC News

UC News app is similar to Google News which brings both traditional and new media content creators at single place to help users get news content easily. This app comes with easy to use user friendly interface. So, you will not find any issues while using this app.

It also tracks trending keywords on Facebook and Twitter to recommend you trending news. You can also customize content subscription to get news of your interest. The app will also make use of UC Browser’s data compression services to provide this news while lowering data consumption.

UC News is also planning to partner with self-publishers and key opinion leaders to bring original content. With this app, company wants to be number 1 content discovery app in India.
