Back in May, Nikola Motors ha announced that they exist and that they are developing a US $375,000 hybrid electric semi truck called the Nikola One. According to the announcement made by the company, the truck will be powered by lithium battery packs and a compressed natural gas generator, which they claim is better than any semi trucks that are presently in the market. Nikola also said that in terms of power, efficiency, weight, speed, safety, the cost of ownership, and durability, their truck will be much better than its competitors.

In the announcement, the company revealed the price of each truck to come at $5000 per month, including free fuel for the first 1.6 million kilometers. The sleeping cab will also be fitted with a curved 4K TV.

With a few low-quality press rendering and a set of amazing specs, the truck was made available for preorders. In recent press releases, the company claimed that it had managed to generate “$2.3 billion in pre-sales in the first month.” The company is yet to release a prototype and it won’t be available until December.

We would like to clear a few things about Nikola One. It is not a fully “electric” semi truck, as it still uses fossil fuels for getting power. So, essentially, it is not like the Tesla car, which is fully electric. The compressed glass will be used to power the turbines that will generate electricity and power up a 320 kilowatt-hour battery pack. This will power the wheels of the truck. Just on electricity, the truck will be able to do 320 km, depending on the load that it is towing. Talking of the mileage, the fuel efficiency ranges from 29.4 to 19.6 liters per 100 km  and its tank can store 379 liters of fuel.
