Good thing is that from these 500 million active users, 300 users are daily active. Daily active users is now an important metric to count engagement. Monthly active user metric is the industry standard but companies generally manipulate this data to look big.

If we look back to the last announcement, it confirmed 400 million users last month. It took 9 months in adding next 100 million users. Luckily, the growth is constant. It took the same 9 months to grow from 200 million to 300 million users and from 300 million to 400 million.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has over one billion monthly active users and Messenger has 900 million active users. Facebook itself is the largest social media platform.
