Motorola is expected to unveil its latest flagship devices the Moto Z and Moto Z Play at Lenovo’s Tech World even,t which is scheduled to take place on June 9. With the launch of these smartphones, the company is looking to introduce the ‘Z’ series, featuring an ecosystem of modular backplates, which was previously called Amps. Now, these are known as MotoMods and are garnering a lot of attention. Renown tipster, Evan Blass has leaked the first images which may feature these modular backplates.

The images that were leaked featured three modular backplates that are expected to arrive with the Z series. The MotoMods can be connected to the connection pins that are located at the back with ease and be used for improved productivity. Just for recollection, earlier, Motorola was tipped to launch 5 backplates at the event. These modular add-ons included a battery pack, a rugged cover fitted with a wide-angle lens, a camera-style grip complete with a flash module and optical zoom, a stereo speaker setup, and a pico projector.
The first image showcases an optical zoom lens module, the backplate consists of a flash on its left and what seems to be like a shutter button on the right. The one behind it seems to have a kickstand which could be used to keep the phone upright while in landscape mode for better media experience. The second image is a thicker module, which could house a battery pack. As for the last image, deciphering the module is a bit difficult, we think it could house either the pico projector or the stereo speakers.
Motorola is all set to ditch the X series of smartphones for the Z series, which will be flagship lineup for the company. The specifications of the Moto Z and Z Plus have been leaked heavily in the past and show a promising set of specifications.
The Moto Z is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, 32GB of inbuilt storage, and a 2600mAh battery.
