Say “Good Bye” to Moto X. Lenovo has decided to replaced the Moto X line of smartphones with its new Moto Z.

Motorola is working on two flagship devices with codename: Vertex and Vector. Both devices to have 5.5 inch display. Moto Vertex could be Moto Z Play while Vector could be the premium handset, Moto Z Style.

This is not the only change. It was also reported that Verizon branded Droid devices will also get Z branding and it will be called something like “Moto Z Play Droid Edition.”

We are not sure why company is changing the branding of high-end phones from Moto. But, there could be a reason which company will surely confirm when it will be officially announcing these changes.

Modular backplates such as a pico projector, stereo speakers, and premium camera grip with optical zoom lens will be sold as MotoMods. There is not much detail on the modular component, but you can see the 16-pin connector at the back of the phone shown in the image. These pins will be used to interface with accessories.

All these changes and entire ecosystems will be revealed early next month at Lenovo Tech World show in San Francisco on June 9. Stay tuned for more updates.

Recently, Sony also started shifting away from Xperia Z to focus on Xperia X. HTC also used the One brand since 2012 and dropped in recent HTC 10.
