With the expected launch of the iPhone 7 coming near, all forms of leaks, rumors and speculations are making rounds on the internet. Here we have compiled all that we know so far about the next iteration of the iPhone.
Before we begin with this segment, we will like to point out the there is still months of development before the device officially goes into production. The predecessors to the upcoming device, the iPhone 6 and 6S were released in the month of September, last year.
Like we mentioned earlier, the new generation is going to be called the iPhone 7 with the iPhone 7 Plus variant to be released simultaneously. Unlike the previous year where an ‘S’ edition was introduced having a better performance and camera, this time, with new features, Apple is planning to do a design overhaul as well.
The company is all set to maintain the trend of releasing two variants of the device at once and it may also stick to the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen size that was introduced in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus respectively.
Apple is yet to finalize the design for the upcoming design. However, according to the reports, the company is looking to maintain the general design language of the iPhone 6S while making small changes here and there. Though the rumors suggest against it, we expect the camera module to be less protruding, this time, around whereas we may also witness a removal of the antenna band from the back of the device with it remaining on the sides, the top and the bottom of the device.
There are mixed rumors as far as the thickness of the device, with some reports suggesting at a thinner construct with the omission of the headphone jack and the implementation of an even thinner lightening port. While, the other reports say that the new device will have the same thickness as that of the previous version.
With no headphone jack, the reports are suggesting that the company is looking to develop lightening port compatible EarPods that will sell alongside the device. There have also been reports of the company improving the Bluetooth connectivity of the device so that the compatibility of the Bluetooth headphones improve.
Blueprints of a device, which is said to be the iPhone 7 Plus, featuring a smart connector at the back have surfaced indicating at a new potential feature. However, there is no other proof for the inclusion of this feature and several reports also suggest that this feature will not make it to the final product. Though, if the rumors are proven to be accurate, then, the feature is going to be limited to the larger-screen model.
Internal specs of the device are also not yet known to us, however, we expect that Apple is going to follow the trend of introducing a newer generation of a more powerful chip in the iPhone 7. The Apple-designed A10 is expected to come in the device and is supposedly being manufactured by TSMC.
Other reports and rumors suggest that there is going to be a bigger difference between the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus other than the increase in screen size and bigger battery. This time around, the iPhone 7 may come with 2GB of RAM, whereas, the Plus variant may feature 3GB of RAM. There have also been speculations of the use of a separate camera module for the plus variant with the iPhone 7 Plus using a dual camera setup, in place of a single one.
