Facebook-owned WhatsApp Messenger has expanded its sharing feature. It has added ability to send and receive documents over share. Now this feature is available via the build in Play Store and iOS. You only need to update your apps to use this new feature.

WhatsApp has replaced photos and videos icon with camera and document icon. It makes it easier to share PDF files. To share a document, just tap on document icon and then browse the file you want to share.

The similar option can be found in the latest version of iOS app. It gets  “Share Document” option in the share menu.

It is worth mentioning that the feature will work only if both persons involved in communication have updated their WhatsApp messenger. If another person has not updated the app, you cannot send the file even if you got the update.

For now, you can only send and receive PDF files but it will expand support for other files in near future.

WhatsApp for iOS also supports zoom in videos while playing and few other small features. WhatsApp for iOS users can now see the “blue ticks” directly from the main WhatsApp chat list.
