Few months back, Facebook announced profile video option. This option lets Facebook users add a 7-seconds video in place of profile picture from mobile apps. This feature was also rolled out for iOS users but for Android, it was showing as ‘coming soon’ in the app.

This option was there for few users but for most of the people, it was saying Profile Videos (coming soon). Now, Facebook is rolling out this option widely to all Android users.

Facebook profile video

To upload a profile video, go to your profile and click on the camera icon on your profile picture. You will see multiple options. The first option will be for taking a profile video from your smartphone camera and in the second option, you will be able to upload a video from your smartphone gallery. So, it is your personal choice whether to use a profile photo or a profile video.

I am not sure how many people will use this feature. But this could be a creative way to make your profile attractive. You can add your smiling or giggling video as profile video. So, we can expect this from our creative friends to come with an awesome profile videos

Facebook profile videos look like continuous playing GIFs. So, you do not need to restart it again. It starts playing in an infinite loop but stay muted until you tap on them to start the sound.

If you are Android user, you should check to see if this option is available for you. If you cannot see this option, you should wait as they are rolling out to everyone gradually.

Few months back, Facebook started focusing on videos and hence make several changes on platform to bring more views and engagements on Facebook. Publishers also found more views on Facebook as compared to that of YouTube. It is clear that Facebook is doing right things to keep users’ interest on its platform. This 7-second profile video is also a small but interesting addition in its video content strategy.
