India is one of the biggest country of Android users. And a recent report ranks India at second place for having malware-affected Android smartphones. Primary reason for malware infection is the use of third-party apps.

Cheetah mobile, China-based mobile tools provider, has published a report after doing a research on Android malware and infections. This report found China, India and Indonesia as three most malware affected devices. China saw 1,5 million infected devices while India had 1.1 million infected devices. Indonesia has 800327 infected Android devices.

“The number of Android viruses, especially Root Trojans, rose sharply with a growth rate of 22 percent infecting a total of 11,170,960 devices in India in 2015,” the report said.

In 2015, there were more than 9.5 million android viruses. If we compare it with previous year, there were around 2.8 million Android viruses. So, we saw around 300% increase in the number of Android viruses.

Cyber attackers used Trojan malware to gain access to innocent android devices and the use its data for personal reasons.
