Google has updated its Chrome for Android to improve its Data saving feature. Now Chrome for Android claims to save up to 70% of data while browsing the web.
If data saver is on, Chrome for Android will now skip images while loading a web page. In this way, page size will be less and it will load in much less time that it used to be. In place of images, you will see blank placeholders. Tapping on these placeholders will load images individually.
This feature is now rolling out for India and Indonesia. Later, it will also be available in other countries in coming months.
Data saver feature is also available on Chrome for iOS but this advanced data saving feature is only for Android users. I cannot confirm when it will be available for iOS users.
If you are Android user and do not know how to use this feature, you can check whether data saving is on or not. Go to Settings and then check the Advanced section for ‘data Saver’ option. For desktop, Google also launched data saver extension to save bandwidth.
Google’s data saver feature serves pages through Google’s server by compressing pages and check for potential security issues.IN this way, it helps you in saving your data bandwidth and reduce the potential risks.
