Microsoft rolls out Cortana for Android in public beta

Cortana app brings almost all the functionalities which It shows on Windows 10 PC. Basically, it will try to compete with Google Now on Android. It relies on Bing search for answering your queries. If I talk about capabilities, it can set reminders, search the web, set alarm, track flight status and perform the usual voice searches.

Recent update also brings it just a one click away. You can launch it via Home button.

As of now, you can not toggle settings, open apps or invoke Cortana hands-free by saying “Hey Cortana”. This capability is only available in devices running on Windows 10. But company is trying to make improvements and bring all features on Android app too.

Cortana for Android public beta is currently available only in the US. Microsoft confirmed that it will launch the same program for other countries too. If you are from US, you can try Cortana on your Android device to see how it works in comparison with Google Now.
