Coolpad Dazen 1 Review

Design and Display

Design of the smartphone is normal with plastic body. It has 5 inch of large display. Battery of the smartphone is removable. It weighs just 155 gm with battery.

It has power key at the right side and volume rocker keys at the right side. Micro-USB port is at the bottom and 3.5 mm jack at top.

Processor, RAM and Internal storage

It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. Performance of the device is really good as compared to the smartphones of similar price range. Opening and closing of apps are quick and you will not face any kind of lag. This smartphone also does not heats up too much while gaming.

It comes with 8 GB internal storage from which only 4 GB is available for users. Internal storage is also expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.

User Interface

It runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with CoolUI 6.0 at the top. I am impressed with the UI. It is responsive with good look and feel. Icons are inspired by flat design. Transition and animation effects make it attractive. I personally liked the UI and its features. It does not offer any kind of app drawer, so apps are arranged in homescreen. You can also create folders to arrange apps.

Notification bar also offers good user experience. You can access the quick settings just by swiping right in notification center.

It comes with a 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. Rear and front both Cameras of the smartphone perform good. Low light photography is not as good as we found in Dazen X7. But in proper light, it offers good quality of photos.

Camera app also offers different modes to enhance the photography. It also offers a beauty more for enhancing your selfies. You can also record GIF direct from the camera of the smartphone.

This is an entry level phone with 4G connectivity. This is the main attraction of the phone. Other connectivity features of the phone are wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB. It is a dual SIM phone with sim card slot at the back side. You will have to open the backcover to install the sim cards.

Coolpad Dazen 1 battery

It is packed with 2500 mAh battery which claims to offer 50% extended battery performance. I also found the battery performance good. You will have to charge this smartphone once a day in normal usage. But if you use high end games and use it for chatting for long time, battery will drain quickly.

Sound quality of the phone is good. In call sound is also good and audible even in crowd. Speakers of the smartphone also offer good sound quality. You can use good earphones to enhance your music experience.

See the benchmarking results in the below snapshots. This smartphone is expected to offer good performance. But gaming performance will not be good while playing 3D games.

Final Verdict

At this price, you wouldn’t expect anything else. Performance of the smartphone is good. I personally liked the UI of the phone. Camera is also good and battery performance is satisfactory. Good thing is that it does not heats up like other smartphones available in similar price range.
