Today, Google has modified its search results for Android. Google will now recommend you to install relevant app from search results. This new step will surely bring smiles to faces of Android developers.

If user searched for something and an Android app has content relevant to the keyword user search for, search result will show the listing of the app with the link to download the app. Once you decide to install the app, it will redirect you to Google play to install the app. After app installation, you will be redirected to the content you would like to read. But it will only show those apps which have implemented App Indexing. Google introduced App indexing back in late 2013 which started listing android apps in search results.

App indexing

App indexing will be used as ranking factor and it will decide how to rank the app in search results for a keyword. Google also disclosed that 30 billion links within apps have been indexed but it did’t confirmed how many developers have started using app indexing.

Until now, it used to show only those apps in search results which you have already installed in your device. Now users will see recommendations from all apps. This new change will be useful and will change the mobile search results into app discovery service.

In my opinion, it will not offer good user experience. Sometimes apps take time to download, but users want instant answers while searching for something. With this step, Google wants to promote Android apps and help Android developers in getting users. In coming days, App indexing SEO market will start booming.
