Google battery project

With increasing development of wearable tech and use of smartphones, researchers are now trying to make better products. But one thing which still misses the expectation is the battery. Now reports confirmed that Google has already started woking on batteries.

As per the recent article in The Wall Street Journal, Former Apple Inc. battery expert Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj is working in Google’s X lab. Initially, he tested battery developed by others to use in Google’s smartphones. Now they have started working on their own manufactured batteries which will offer improved performance.

Battery life for mobile devices is a “huge issue” and there must be a good solution for this. Recent Apple watch was also criticized for offering less battery backup. Now users are addicted to smart devices, so battery life must give then at least 20-24 hours of backup for a good usage.

Dr. Bhardwaj has confirmed to industry executives that Google has at least 20 battery-dependent projects. So, it is very important for Google to research in this field. Google has also joined hands with other technology companies to collaborate in this battery development project.

Team lead for by Dr. Bhardwaj is working to improve the current Lithium-ion technology and the cutting-edge solid-state batteries for consumer electronics and wearable tech. Few months back, He also gave presentation to an industry conference in which he explained how solid-state, thin-film batteries can be used in smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.

Google is also working to acquire few battery related patents to boost its research on batteries.
