Email delivery platform SendGrid hacked, Asks customers to reset passwords

SendgridEmail delivery platform Sendgrid confirmed that it was hacked and various customers’ account details were leaked. Company is also asking all customers to change their password.

Sendgrid confirmed that one of their employee’s account was compromised. This compromised account was then used to steal username, email address and hashed passwords of SendGrid customers and employees. This compromised account was used to access its systems on three separate occasions in February and March. Account related data of users were leaked.

All this came into light when NYT reported that users of Bitcoin-related businesses have been targeted with phishing attacks. SendGrid tool this seriously and started investigation to look into the matter. Later, it confirmed that one of its employee was hacked and then his account was used to perform more hacks.

SendGrid wants its users to change password. It is also suggesting users to enable two-factor authentication to prevent unauthorised access.

This is not the first time when a popular online service has been hacked. So, we recommend you to have your own security measure. Always use strong passwords. Strong passwords are hard to guess and hard to crack.
