Facebook Introduces Free Friend-To-Friend Payments Via Messages

Now Facebook chat is not only for conversation, you can use it to send money to your friends. Back in October, we reported that Facebook is working on Friend-to-Friend payment system for Facebook messages. Now, company has officially announced this service. You only need to connect your Visa or Mastercard in Facebook chat and tap “$” button to send money to friend via iOS, Android desktop with zero fee.

This payment feature will be rolling out over the coming months in the United States.

Facebook Payment system

To send money to your friend, you only need to start the conversation with friend. Then tap on “$” icon and enter the amount you want to send. Tap Pay at top right corner, add your card and then pay.

To receive money, you need to open conversation, tap Add Card in the message and then add card to accept money.

You do not need to worry about the security in this payment service. Facebook has been dealing with transactions since 2007 for games and advertisers. Facebook also confirmed that they take security very seriously and have implemented a very secure mechanism to process your payment and make it secure. Facebook has also hired anti-fraud specialists monitors to check the suspicious activities in this payment process.

At first time, you need to add the card in your account and create secure pin. Next time, you can use that secure pin to process the payment. On iOS devices, you can also enable Touch ID.
