iBall Overtakes Samsung to Become Top Tablet Vendor in India: IDC

After losing the smartphone market to Micromax, now Samsung has lost the top tablet vendor crown. iBall has finally managed to overtake Samsung to become top tablet vendor of India.

Samsung had around 17.9 % market share in Q4 2013 and now it is dropped to 12.9 percent. iBall rose from 4.5 % market share to 15.6% market share in tablet market in a year. Datawind is at the third place with 9.6% market share. Lenovo and HP are at fourth and fifth places with a 9.4% share and 8.7% share.

iBall has shown the strong growth because of its targeted products designed as per consumers choice. Most of its tablets are entry level tablets and attracts more customers.

“iBall rapidly climbed its way to the number one spot in this quarter. From a 4.5 percent share in Q4 2013, the brand has more than tripled its share in Q4 2014. Its growth is backed by low cost products targeted at consumers looking to own entry level form factors. The brand is actively engaged in expanding its retail presence as well as geographical reach,” IDC said in a statement.

IDC also found that 7 inch tablet priced below Rs. 10000 saw more sales in India. Android tablets are dominating the market, but 10 inch Windows tablets also saw sale. Wi-Fi+3G tablets saw boost of nearly 60% while Wi-Fi only tablets saw major drop in demand. Low cost Wi-Fi+2G tablets were also in demand. It confirms that users want tablet with SIM card slot. So that they can access internet on the go.
