Almost a year back, Facebook allowed users more than 50 gender options. Now it lets you select a custom gender option. So, you can select any gender you want. This option is now available to any user using Facebook in US English. Soon, it will be available to other users.
Social networking giant confirmed that few people face challenges in revealing their gender identity. This will let you choose what they want to share with their friends.
“Now, if you do not identify with the pre-populated list of gender identities, you are able to add your own. As before, you can add up to ten gender terms and also have the ability to control the audience with whom you would like to share your custom gender. We recognize that some people face challenges sharing their true gender identity with others, and this setting gives people the ability to express themselves in an authentic way,” Facebook said in a post.
If you want to change your gender, you can edit your profile and add your gender to what you want people to see.
