WeChat has finally launched a desktop version of its chat client for Windows users. It already launched a client for Mac systems back in February last year.

WeChat desktop client works by scanning a QR code. Just like WhatsApp web, users will have to scan QR code from mobile app. Once your phone is linked to your desktop client, messages will be available on desktop client. When you are using desktop client, alerts will only available on your computer.

As of now, this client is available in Chinese. We can expect this for other languages in coming days.

WeChat is already available on web with its web based client. You can use this if you do not want to download a separate software. WhatsApp also launched its web client last week which allows users accessing your WhatsApp account from web.
