WeChat Comes to Desktop with Mac Client; Windows Version May Come Soon

Popular messaging service WeChat has added one more to access the platform. Company has launched a native desktop Mac client. This new WeChat Mac client is optimized for Mac desktop. It supports Mac Os X 10.7 (Lion) or above. It comes in Chinese and English languages.

WeChat Comes to Desktop with Mac Client

WeChat for Mac offers satisfactory messaging service and file transfer. To login in Mac client, you only need to scan a QR code with your phone. Once logged in, you can send text messages, photos and basic emoticons. Once you are logged in to the Mac app, alerts will pop up in the Mac’s menu bar. And your phone will remain silent if you are using WeChat on desktop.

There is no official word on the Windows native client, but company will surely launch it soon.

With this move, company is targeting its biggest competitor Japanese messaging app Line which has both Mac and Windows client.

Download WeChat for Mac. It is not yet available in the Mac App store.
