Scientists have developed a smart keyboard which comes with self-cleaning and self-powering ability. It can also identify users by the way they type. It helps in making system more secure and boost cyber security.

This keyboard was described in in the journal ACS Nano.

This smart keyboard senses the typing and knows how one types. If some one try to enter your password, it can easily identify that someone else us trying to access your system. In this way, it can block other users accessing your computer. If someone has stolen your password, he will not be able to access the system because he types in different way.

This keyboard is made of thin films that interact to close a circuit when a finger presses key. It measures the voltage and current output which is unique to individuals. It because of different typing manner, finger size, individual bio-electricity, and typing force.

This smart keyboard can harness the energy generated from typing to power itself. It also has a special surface coating (hydrophobic ) which repels dirt and grim. It can clean itself.
