Micromax’s YU Brand Announces App Challenge for Indian Developers

Micromax announced its YU series few days back. Smartphones under this series will come with custom Cyanogen OS build based on Android. For this smartphone series, Cyanogen has given exclusive rights of Cyanogen OS in India. Now Micromax has invited Indian developers to create app for its upcoming YU brand. Company announced YU Developers Challenge at DroidCon India in Bangalore. Grand prize for winner is Rs. 1,00,000.

Company want developers to participate in this contest and submit the app by January 5, 2015. For this, developers have to register at YUPlayGod Forum. Results will be announced on January 2015. Developers can submit their app under various categories including personalisation, camera, privacy, audio and battery.

Best app will be featured on Micromax’s new YU smartphone. All selected apps will be featured with proper credit to developer. Winner will also receive Rs. 1,00,000. Top three app entries will win YU smartphones and top 10 developers will get YU merchandise.

Commenting on the announcement, Micromax Co-Founder, Rahul Sharma, said, “As we usher into our journey towards revolutionizing your smartphones, through this challenge we want to call upon the Developer Community to share their vision of reinvention and ingeniousness with us. As a country, we have an immense pool of talent and CyanogenMod serves as an excellent platform to bring that alive.”
