In past few years, we have seen many hi-tech inventions. Now everything is smart like smart ring, smart band, smart watches and even smart bra. Now cars can be controlled by smartphone, we have drones and robots. In the same series, Google has announced “Smart Spoon.” This “Smart Spoon” aims to help millions of people dealing with Parkinson’s and similar illnesses. Company claims that this spoon can reduce the shaking of the spoon bowl by 76%.

Google’s new spoon is basically a “tremor-canceling” invention which tries to keep the spoon as stationary as possible. It reads the incoming movement of hand and then uses onboard motors to offset the movement and keep the spoon stationary. In the whole process, it does not try to offset the user’s attempt to move the spoon towards mouth. So, user can easily eat the food with this spoon.

Tremors and Parkinson’s disease affect around 10 million people. Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s mother also have same problem. He had donated more than $50 million to research for a cure. This new technology innovation is brilliant and is going to help so many people around the world.

The spoons are now available for $295.

This was not actually built by Google, but by company called Lift Labs. Google acquired the company because it was impressed by the work done by them. Now Lift Lab founder Anupam pathak works for Google X’s life science division. This division is also working on various other projects including nano particles in blood to detect diseases and smart contact lenses.
