Facebook launches Mentions, app just for celebrities

After Paper and Slingshot, now Facebook launched another smartphone app Mentions. This app is for public figures and available for iOS devices. Only verified public figures such as musicians, government officials, actors, athletes and singers can use this app.

This app is also developed by Facebook Creative Labs. This app allows public figures easily manage their Facebook presence with fans.

Mentions

News feed us split in Following and Trending. App has a post button for stress-free way to hare status updates,photos and videos. There is also a section for live Q&A. It also has a mention features which is similar to Twitter’s @ mention. It lets people to mention other people to keep track of them. The aim of the app to encourage celebrities to engage more on social network. Facebook also confirmed that it has seen celebrities posting twice as often while testing the app.

Mention for iPhone is only available for public figures with a verified Facebook pages in US. Facebook confirmed that it will roll out this app in more countries in coming months.
