One of the most popular third party keyboard apps for Android, SwiftKey is now available for free via Google Play Store. Earlier it was available for $3.99.

Today’s update also brings several other features including new themes and Emoji. Company is also offering $5 worth theme pack for free to those who paid for the app.

Along with the app, Swiftkey also sells white-label technology to BlackBerry and Samsung. This is why company claims to be in more than 200 million devices worldwide.

This move is the effect of Apple’s announcement of a predictive keyboard. Apple has also confirmed that third-party keyboards apps can now come to iOS. So, we can say that SwiftKey may also be working on iOS Keyboard app.

“We’re focused not only on reaching more users with our powerful technology, but on building great content and features to engage them,” said the company’s CEO Jon Reynolds in an official statement.

FOr those who are unfamiliar with SwiftKey, it is a keyboard app which offers homegrown natural language processing (NLP) technology. This app predicts what you are going to type and also suggests based on your regular typing. It was launched back in 2010 and has been downloaded tens of millions of times.
