Microsoft Announces Windows Phone 8.1, brings your personal assistant Cortana
At Build developer conference in San Francisco, Microsoft rolled out its new Windows Phone 8.1 update. It will be rolled out to the users in the coming next few months. The smartphone which are under processing Windows Phone 8.1 will come pre installed on that devices. Along with the Windows Phone 8.1 update, The firm has also announced its two new partners Micromax and Prestigio.
Talking about the Windows Phone 8.1 Update, It has a new notification system in the smartphone called Action Centre. It includes different kinds of information like battery information, SIM data an many more. Now the start screen will allow users to choose their user interface. Users will also be able to set their background wall papers. Apps can also show up in the Center and developers can interact with Action center using new API..
Microsoft has also launched your personal assistant named Cortana just like Siri and Google Now. Cortana will be powered by Bing which was expected. Cortana will be able to schedule your text , search just by taking instruction from your voice though Cortana can be used by other applications, extending what is possible with the service. Cortana will help you “remind me to do something when I get somewhere”. It is under Beta version of testing.
Also in Windows Phone 8.1 Update, The calender has been updated allowing the users for planning between days, and new views like looking at a full week. Also, The new Windows Phone 8.1 allow users to connect through the VPN and also send, receive and sign encrypted email. A newly updated version of Skype is better integrated into the phone element of Windows Phone 8.1 — you will be able to scoot from a regular phone call to a Skype video call.
Last but not the least, Microsoft has also updated the keyboard on Windows Phone 8.1 and it is very much better according to the companies estimation. In conclusion you can very easily swipe between the keyboard as you can find in many Android setups.
