Microsoft Launches Office for iPad

Today, Microsoft has launched Office for iPad at an event in San Francisco. Office for iPad including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Apps are now available to download from app store.

Microsoft said that company will be pushing Office 365 across all platforms in coming months.

“Our commitment going forward is to make sure that we drive Office 365 everywhere,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said. “So that means across the Web, across all phones, across all tablets, across PCs. That’s our real commitment to Office 365 everywhere.”

These applications comes with the OneDrive integration and lets you collaborate with other users in real-time. You can download and view office documents for free. You can either store documents on your iPad or open directly from your OneDrive. If you store all your documents on OneDrive, these will be available across all deices where Microsoft Office is available.

If you want to create or edit an existing document, you need to purchase Office 365 subscription. Subscriptions for Office 365 start at $6.99 per month for a personal plan and $9.99 for the Home Premium version.

Office for iPhone is already available and it was launched back in June 2013. At that time, company didn’t reveal any plans to bring this app for iPad.
