Microsoft Releases Free Office For iPhone App, But Only For Office 365 Subscribers

This version of Office on iPhone comes with phone-friendly versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. No other office apps such as Outlook is available in the pack. It is already available for Windows Phone.

“With Office 365 Home Premium and Pro Plus, we promised they’d work across all of your devices,” says Julia White, marketing manager for Microsoft Office. “Now that those are out, it’s time to expand think about other end points our users have said are important to them.”

Office for iPhone is not optimized for iPad yet. Microsoft believes that iPad users are better served by Office 365 web apps.

Office for iPhone supports iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th Generation running on iOS 6.1 or higher. A single account supports up to five iPhones.

Currently it is available for only US users but it will be available to other countries in next few weeks. If you live in outside US, just have a little patience.
