1. Apple’s iPhone was not the first iPhone

iPhone is the brand of Apple. But very few people know that first iPhone was launched by Cisco. And for iPhone name, Cisco also sued Apple. Cisco’s iPhone was a VOiP device that lets users call via Skye without using computer. Cisco launched its iPhone 22 days before Apple’s iPhone. Later, Apple settled the trademark lawsuit. Now, Apple and Cisco both have rights to use iPhone name.

2. It is always 9:42 AM or 9:41 AM in iPhone and iPad Ads

iPhone ads always used to say 9:42 AM. But recent ads are moved to display 9:41 AM. The reason is that Apple events start at 9 AM. And they give 40 minutes presentation before displaying iPhone or iPad ads. Apple wanted to display the exact time in device. But they were not sure that they will end the presentation in 40 minutes. So they pad time by 2 minute. In recent ads Apple display 9:41 AM because they usually end presentation in 40 minutes.

“We design the keynotes so that the big reveal of the product happens around 40 minutes into the presentation,” former Apple executive Scott Forstall once said.

“It turned out we were pretty accurate with that estimate, so for the iPad [released in 2010], we made it 41 minutes,” he said.

3. First iPhone was conceptualized in 1983

Very few people know that iPhone launched in June 2007 was not the first iPhone. Apple has dreamed up first iPhone in 1983. That was a landline phone with a built-in screen controlled with a stylus. It was designed by Apple Developer Hartmut Esslinger.
