Instagram had 130 million active users back in June when it announced videos to Instagram. It announced 130 million active users back in February this year. It has added roughly 128 million since Facebook bought the app last year.

WSJ also reported that Instagram will soon start making money for Facebook. For ads, company is looking the possibilities on app’s discover feature. It promotes popular content. Brands will be interested in promoting their content here. But company will be reserve in this feature and will approve ads only if brand have mobile friendly website.

Instagram was launched in late 2010 for iOS devices. It came to Android users in April 2012. It was a simple but interesting app that allowed users to make use of their smartphone camera in a meaningful way.

If we compare it with its video rival company vine, vine only has 40 million registered users. And we have no idea of active users.
