Google has finally made the QuickOffice mobile app free for iOS and Android devices. QuickOffice is a nice app that lets users view, edit and create Word, Excel and PowerPoint files from their smartphone and save on Google Drive. Google is also offering 10 GB free Google Drive storage if you log into the QuickOffice app with your Google Account before September 26, 2013. This extra space will be there in your account for next two years. You will receive extra storage space in next few years.

QuickOffice

“While we’re on the topic of free stuff, if you sign in to your Google Account from the new Quickoffice app for Android or iOS by September 26, 2013, an extra 10GB of Google Drive storage will be added to your account for two years (look for it in the next few weeks),” Google announced.

This decision can be the effect of Apple’s latest announcement about iWork. Apple made iWork and few other stock apps free for users. This is why Google is offering the app for free with free storage.

Google acquired QuickOffice back in June 2012 to improve Google Drive. You can download QuickOffice for free from Play Store or the App Store.

This announcement will surely hurt Microsoft. Microsoft launched Microsoft apps for Android and iPhone for free with Office 365 subscription. Now users have free alternate with similar features.
