Yesterday, BBM for Android was trending on social media. Android users were waiting to receive BlackBerry messenger for their device. Like many others, I also visited Play Store and found the app. But wait wait, something was wrong. There are so many BBM apps showing in search results. We reported that the apps for Android and iOS will arrive on September 21 or September 22. But it is yet to be released.

Yes, Android users are downloading these fake apps. So, how to spot a fake app. It was simple enough. You can simply identify fake apps by its logo and developer name. BlackBerry INC looks official but it is not. If you are still confuse, you can try the contact option. Here, you will see the website of developers and email address. Official app will surely have website and email address belongs to company.

Most of these fake apps have 4+ ratings with good reviews. But genuine users have also posted their bad reviews.

BlackBerry has also tweeted that app is late from scheduled time. This delay in release was due to unreleased BBM app that was posted online. BlackBerry saw 1.1 million new users via this unreleased version of the app in forst 8 hours. If you have downloaded this app you got a bad luck, company is disabling the access of the app.

Google should revamp its app removal process and learn something from Apple. Scammer and malware apps easily get approval and hit the Google Play store. Apple is always criticized for being more controllable for its App store. But this habit makes App store safe from these kind of apps.

If you are iOS user, you do not need to worry. Apple never let fake apps come on App Store. Official BBM app for iOS was already available. Due to too many users in first few hours, company has remove the app from App Store temporarily. Those who already downloaded the app will be able to use it.
