Windows 8 that was officially debut last month, is growing very fast. When we talk about the popularity, it is breaking records. According to recent data from statcounter, Windows 8 has overtaken Linux and becomes more popular that these opensource operating systems.

Microsoft Windows 8 has around 0.88 percent while Linux has only 0.86 percent, slightly less than Windows 8. Windows 7 is at the top and is the most popular operating system, But Microsoft is expecting windows 8 to overtake Windows 7 soon in next year.

By the graph shown above, you can see that it is not the first time when it has overtaken the Linux. But Now the difference is getting closer and Linux is now behind Windows 8.

But we cannot rely on this data as it only counts web usage and does not measure app usage. But It is fact that Windows 8 has been accepted by users widely around the globe and reviews are also nice. We can not deny that Windows 8 is going to be the best operating system in Microsoft’s history.

Microsoft has yet to reveal the sales data but we got some figures which says that 4 million upgrades have been sold during its first weekend on the market.
