500 Million Android devices Activated Till Now

On September 12, Google has also revealed a new milestone for Android. Android’s director of product management, Hugo Barra said that Google has recorded 500 million Android device activation till now. He also said the Jelly Bean statue is back to Google’s front yard.

500 Million Android devices Activated Till Now

He posted on Google+, “Today is a big day for Android… 500 million devices activated globally, and over 1.3 million added every single day.”

Back in June, At I/O conference, Google revealed that Android activation has reached to 400 million and at that time, activation rate was 1 million per day. In just 2 months, More than 100 million devices has been activated and rate has been grown upto 1.3 million devices per day.

Google is also trying to promote Jelly Beam and it seems that Google is getting success in it. The percentage of Android devices running on Android Jelly Bean has risen to 1.2 percent, up from 0.8 percent last month. Android ICS has also seen an impressive growth of 4 percent from 15.9% to 20%. But that is not enough for ICS. Gingerbread is still ruling the Android market with 57.2% market share and most of the low cost devices still prefer Gingerbread. But Gingerbread usage is now going down and fallen from 60.6 percent last month.
