Nokia is planning to make cheaper Windows Phone to take on Android smartphones. If this rumor is true, we will see some low-cost Windows Phone in market.

Nokia Lumia 610 is the cheapest Windows Phone till date. But company is planning to make few more low-cost smartphones cheaper than Lumia 610. Microsoft is also supporting Nokia to get the Windows Phone devices price down.

Company CEO Stephen Elop told on a conference call that Nokia had planned to go lower than 610, but with support from Microsoft’s engineering teams they have identified ways to go even lower.

“The challenge in all of this is breaking through the strength Android and Apple have in a retail environment,” Elop said. “We aren’t getting the traction we prefer.”  “We had plans already to go lower than the 610,” he said, and with support from Microsoft’s engineering teams Nokia has identified “ways to go even further than we anticipated.”

India is the main market for Nokia. And Microsoft is also giving Indian market a priority. So, main aim of the company is to launch Windows Phone smartphone for less than Rs. 10,000.
