pTron Tangent Beats is a neckband style wireless earphone. The build quality of the earphone impresses. The neckband is really light in weight and flexible. After putting it around your neck, you won’t feel any discomfort. You can keep wearing it throughout the day. Earbuds have magnets to lock them together. Ergonomic earbuds fit in the ears properly. earbuds don’t fall out of ears if you are running or doing intense workouts. You also get two extra pairs of ear tips to try if default ear tips don’t fit properly. Wires connecting the neckband and earbuds are also of good quality.
On the right side of the neckband, it has three buttons and a micro USB port for charging. There’s also a tiny notification LED. The center button is to turn the earphone on and off. It can also be used to receive or deny calls. Buttons offer tactile feedback. A long press of it activates the phone’s default voice assistant. The + and – buttons are self-explanatory. They are for volume Up and down or next or previous tracks. The position of these buttons is fine and you can easily identify them individually. So, there’s no issue in operating the earphone.
pTron doesn’t claim any IP rating for the earphone but confirms that the earphone is sweat and dustproof. I have been using this Bluetooth earphone for around 10 days and I think earphone is rugged enough for daily usage and can survive sweat.
When you long-press the power button, It will turn on the device and instantly pair to the existing device if it finds a device in the Bluetooth range.
Now let’s come to the most important thing, Audio quality. I used the earphone while listing to several kinds of songs, Podcasts, and movies. This earphone belongs to the affordable price segment, so I will talk considering the price. Overall sound and music experience is good. The earphone promises Hi-Fi stereo Bass sound and it delivers the same. If you love listening to high bass songs or hip hop, you will love it. The sound is loud but not too loud. So, it remains comfortable even at the loudest volume. What I really like is that music quality doesn’t drop at the loudest volume. Because the earphones are tuned for improved bass, sometimes I felt muffled vocals in some songs. I could feel the difference because I have listened to those songs a lot on a range of earphones. I won’t see it as a big issue but is worth noting for those who prefer voice clarity.
The microphone does a good job and doesn’t pick much noise around. Your voice will be clear to the other person on call. Even if you are in a crowded place, you will be audible on call.
You get over 6 hours of music playback on a fully charged battery at 70-75% volume level. That’s good enough for a budget Bluetooth earphone. It takes around 1 and a half hours in fully charging the battery from 0 to 100%. So, battery life is also good.
Wrap Up
Overall, I really liked the earphone. It delivers what it promises without costing much. If you are looking for a good Bluetooth earphone in less than Rs. 1000, PTron Tangent Beats could be a good option. It offers a good music experience and a decent battery backup. The build quality is also good.
