Nu Republic has been making waves in the audio market with its stylish and affordable products. A few months back, I posted review of Nu Republic Cyberstud Spin. That TWS comes with a fidget spinner charging case. Recently the company launched CyberStud X2 which comes with a distinctive design and promises of decent sound quality. Let’s talk about it in this detailed review to see if it lives up to the hype.
Cyberstud X2 comes with a unique charging case that has an open design. The charging has a metal casing with solid plastic inside. This build makes it solid, but it is also a bit heavy. It weighs 77 grams. while the average TWS earbuds, typically weigh between 40 to 45 grams.
There’s a big circular LED light that resembles the art reactor of Iron Man. When you open the case, the light glows in the same way as in Iron Man suit and looks really cool. When this LED turns Red, you know it’s time to plug in the case for charging. There’s a Type-C port at the bottom for plugging it to charging. When the device is plugged in for charging, the LED keeps blinking to indicate the charging status.
The company doesn’t specify any IP rating but assures that Cyberstud X2 is Splash and sweat-resistant. You also get a neck chain to attach to the charging case. So, you can also wear it as a pendant to match your style.
You get buds with compact in-ear designs that don’t feature silicon tips. Still, it fits properly and provides a comfortable experience. The stem also features an LED strip that looks good. It also has Nu Republic branding and microphones on its stems. Buds have plastic construction and the metallic finish looks premium.
The earbuds feature intuitive touch controls on stems for music, sound, and calls. A single tap pauses and plays music, while a double tap on the right bud increases the volume, and a double tap on the left decreases it. Triple taps on each bud allow you to navigate to the previous or next track, respectively. A long press on either bud activates your voice assistant.
Buds pack 13mm dynamic drivers with Bass technology that promises good audio. Right out of the box, the earbuds show a strong focus on clarity and precision. Both casual listeners and audiophiles will love the sound signature. Since it prioritizes a balanced sound signature, it doesn’t exaggerate low frequencies to give you extra thump when not needed. It might disappoint a few people, but audiophiles who appreciate a natural and accurate sound will surely love it.
The bass presence is noticeable but subtle. So, buds are perfect for genres like classical and jazz where over-emphasized bass could ruin the true essence of the music. Vocals remain crisp and clean and stand out beautifully. Whether you listen to pop music or listen to podcasts, the mids provide a rich, textured sound. This contributes to an immersive listening experience across genres by ensuring that elements like vocals, guitars, and other instruments are well-defined. Buds also deliver sharp and bright treble that avoids being harsh. So, it properly complements the balanced sound signature. However, at louder volumes, the highs can become slightly harsh, which may lead to listener fatigue over extended periods. Overall, the earphones cater well to people who look for accurate sound reproduction. It delivers a superb and satisfying audio experience across genres.
There’s also a 40ms low latency gaming mode that works well and reduces latency to sync the game and audio for an improved gaming experience. You will have to tap four times on the left bud to enable the low-latency mode for gaming. Do the same to enable the music mode again.
Buds feature a dual mic setup with Environmental noise cancellation and intelligent reduction technology for calling. I used it for regular calling for a few days and never faced any issues. It captures voice properly and also reduces ambient noise to make you audible on the other side.
It has Bluetooth 5.3 that offers quick pairing and reliable connection. However, you can only pair it with one device at a time.
CyberStud X2 promises 7 hours on a single charge and up to 70 hours with the charging case. During my testing, I got around 6 hours of individual playback and close to 60 hours of music playback easily. That makes it impressive in terms of battery life. Buds also support fast charging and just 15 minutes in the charging case can offer up to 3 hours of music playback.
Wrap Up
The Cyberstud X2 combines style, impressive sound quality, and exceptional battery life. It is a good choice for both music lovers and gamers. These earbuds deliver a well-rounded experience that stands out in today’s competitive market. The unique pendant design is another plus for Gen-Z people. Nu Republic Cyberstud X2 is currently available at Rs. 2499. At this price, a few buds are also offering Active Noise cancellation. The lack of ANC is a disappointment for people who don’t care about the design. But people who want to own a TWS with a unique design and good sound can consider it.
