Astrum ST150 Review : A Portable Bluetooth Speaker In Budget Segment With Exceptional Sound

Astrum ST150 Review

Earlier this year, Astrum launched its Astrum ST150 portable Bluetooth speaker in Indian market. It was launched for Rs. 2790 but you can easily get it for less price from different online stores. I have been using this for past few days and here is my review of Astrum ST150.

Astrum ST150 Review

Astrum ST150 is sleek and small in size. It easily fits in the pocket. It is also not heavy and weight is just 115 grams. So, it is portable as the company claims. The speaker has metal frame that house the front and rear panels. The front side has two speaker units (5W each). The back side got a leather layer and has Astrum branding. It offers good drop, so it will hardly slip from your hands. It also has a lanyard hole where you can add a lanyard. The company gives lanyard within the box.

At one side, it has a power button and a micro USB port to charge it. The power button can be used to play or pause songs. You can also use it to receive and end calls when speaker is paired. There is also a LED light located at the right side of right speaker unit. When you turn the speaker on, the light will flash red and blue alternatively.

One good thing about this speaker is that it is shockproof and dustproof. So it is good for outdoors. You can carry this in your trips without any problem.

The speaker has Bluetooth 4.0 to connect with the phone or laptop. The range is 10 meters but that works good if both the devices are in direct line of sight. Otherwise, there will be some interruption.

The music quality is good and speaker offers clear and loud sound. Even at the highest volume, the sound quality remains good. The bass is not so powerful as it claims, but notable for a speaker of this small size. If you are a music lover, you will not be disappointed. With loud sound, it is even good for outdoors.

But there are couple of cons if you wanted any of these things. The speaker lacks volume control, no memory card slot and no support for aux. While many people do not ask for aux support, memory card slot and volume control should have been there. But the company decided to drop those to keep the size as minimal possible.

Even after these few cons, this product stands out with its excellent music quality.

It has a rechargeable 700 mAh battery. When it is charging, the LED light will flash red and will turn to blue when battery charging is done. It takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes in fully charging. It has awesome battery backup. While the company claims 4 hours of non-stop music playback, I guess this claim is for full volume playback. As the sound is loud, you are less likely to listen to full volume. In low volume level, the backup will be of over 6 hours depending on usage.

Final Words

I am impressed with its sound quality and battery backup. Even if it lacks few essential features, you will not be disappointed due to awesome music experience. As the company claims, it is compact. So suitable for people who travel and want a good speaker during the journey.
