For past few months, Infocus has been focusing on dual camera feature and launched notable phones. We already reviewed InFocus Turbo 5+ and Infocus Snap 4. Infocus Snap 4 was even a phone with two dual camera setups. Now the company has gone a step ahead and launched a budget phone with dual camera setup. The phone also follows 18:9 display trend. This new phone is Infocus Vision 3. The phone is priced at just Rs. 6999.
Infocus Vision 3 Review
When you first look at the phone, it will remind you the Infocus Snap 4. The design is almost same with the only change in the location of the speaker. Now the speaker has been moved to back panel from the base side. The phone has 5.7-inch HD+ display with 18:9 Aspect ratio. The capacitive buttons have been replaced with on-screen navigation keys. You can choose what navigation patterns you want to use and even enable the suspension ball for quick navigation option.
The phone has the volume rocker on the left side. It also has the power button and hybrid sim slot on the right. The top side has 3.5 mm audio port and the base side has micro USB port with a primary microphone.
The back panel has dual camera setup at top left side with LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is at the upper center side and the speaker is at the bottom side of the back panel.
The phone looks good in terms of design. Buttons are at easy to reach and offer a tactile response. The is easy to handle even with one hand. Sides have curves at back to make it easier to hold, but the phone is slippery. So, you need a good back cover for protection.
The phone has a 5.7-inch On-Cell display with 1366 x 768 Pixels (HD+ resolution). It follows latest 18:9 display ratio trend still side bezels are not very narrow. But I was not expecting much from a budget phone. This display is awesome and performs well. The viewing angles are large and the outdoor visibility is also excellent. It offers vivid colors. So, the overall experience is good.
The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with a custom UI at the top. There is no app drawer. You also have just two bloatware apps that are Amazon Prime Video and Amazon store. There is also a theme store for browsing hundreds of themes and wallpapers. If you like to customize your phone, you will love this section. I personally loved the lock screen wallpaper it shows each time in press power button.
You have AppTwins feature to make a clone of few social media apps to use multiple accounts on the same phone. There are also few gestures like turn over to reject call, silent on pick up and press the power button twice for the camera.
There is also an option to create a private space to keep your private data. The UI also comes with a built-in option to record screen. So, you do not need to install any third-party app for this.
The S Boost section aims to improve performance. You can use it to manage background apps, auto start apps and defragmentation of the device. The intelligent acceleration boosts performance by freeing RAM.
Infocus Vision 3 is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor. It also has 2 GB RAM to manage multitasking. This setup is fine for a budget device and performance is average. I will not rate it bad but not good at the same time. Apps take time in loading. The UI is feature rich and is not heavy but less RAM keeps the overall performance slow.
The gaming experience is good, but games also take little bit longer time in loading. I played Asphalt 8, NFS No Limits, Modern Combat and Dead Trigger 2. These are heavy games and were fine with few minor lags. So, the gaming experience is good. Considering the price, I am happy with the offering.
If I talk about Benchmark results, it scores around 34,000 on Antutu. On Geekbench, It scores over 550 in single-core and over 1600 on multi-core.
The phone has 16 GB that is further expandable using a microSD card.
Infocus Vision 3 brings a dual camera setup in the budget segment. It has 13 megapixels primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5 megapixels 120 degree wide angle secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It also has 8 megapixels front camera with f/2.2 aperture. You can capture photos in Full (18:9), Standard (4:3) and Square sizes. You can icon at the top to select this. The camera also has effects to try.
The camera also has a PRO mode that is available for both rear and front camera. But it doesn’t offer the option to control focus and shutter speed. You can control White balance, ISO, Exposure, saturation, and contrast. So, this pro mode actually does not give you professional control you might wish to have.
The rear camera performs really well. In daylight condition, it not just captures proper details but color accuracy is also good. The HDR mode also works fine. You can also capture wide angle shots. You can check the camera samples below.
The portrait mode works well. Here are Portrait shots.
The performance goes down in low-light and you will see considerable noise, but I am satisfied. It performs much better than the phones of this price. Here are the shots captured in the night with help of the flashlight.
The front camera is average. It fails to capture details and color accuracy is also not very good. It also has a front portrait mode that uses software to give bokeh effect. It attempts well, but with considerable errors in edge detection. So, the rear camera is good, but front camera needed improvement.
The phone also brings an interesting feature that you may have seen in few selective flagship phones in past. The phone allows you capture photos from the rear and front camera at the same time. Use PIP mode for this.
Both cameras can record 1080p videos. The rear camera recording is good but front camera doesn’t record quality videos.
The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel to unlock your phone. It is slow and takes few seconds to unlock. Other sensors include Accelerometer, Light and Proximity sensor.
Multimedia experience on this phone is also good. The loudspeaker is loud and clear. If you have good earphones, you will enjoy music. The display is good, so video and gaming experience are also excellent.
Connectivity options work well. The phone has VoLTE and works fine with Reliance Jio network. Other connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, micro USB, and GPS.
The phone packs 4000 mAh battery that performs well and getting two days battery life is easy with moderate usage. Even if you are a power user, you will enjoy a full day battery backup. The phone lacks fast charging. So, it takes hours in charging and it feels like charging a power bank. With given charger, it takes over four hours in charging from 0 to 100%. This is the only thing I hated on this phone. But the longer battery life is there to compensate this.
Final Words
Infocus Vision 3 is an awesome phone for just Rs. 6999. The phone takes budget phone photography to a new level and impresses with its camera performance. The battery life is awesome but longer charging time gives it a negative point. The phone is not powerful enough but don’t expect much from a budget device.
Overall, this budget phone is worth of its price. If you are looking for a good camera phone in the budget segment, I will recommend this. If you are looking for excellent performance, you can look at alternates
