What is NVIDIA Reflex?

NVIDIA Reflex

Back in 2020, Nvidia unveiled NVIDIA Reflex along with GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. Nvidia Reflex measures and reduces system latency in competitive games. In this article, I will explain Nvidia Reflex and will tell you how this tech works to reduce system latency.

Nvidia Reflex

Nvidia Reflex is a technology that aims to reduce latency, or the delay between an input being made and the resulting action being displayed on the screen, in competitive gaming. It does this by optimizing the GPU, CPU, and display pipeline to minimize the time it takes for inputs to be registered on the screen.

One of the key features of Nvidia Reflex is its ability to measure and display system latency in real time. This allows gamers to see the actual latency of their system and make adjustments accordingly.

Nvidia Reflex also optimizes the GPU by reducing the time it takes for the GPU to process a frame. This is done by increasing the GPU’s clock speed and by reducing the number of CPU-to-GPU synchronizations, which can cause delays. Additionally, it uses G-Sync Compatible monitors for smooth and tear-free gaming with low latency.

On the CPU side, Nvidia Reflex uses a technique called “CPU pre-emption” to minimize the amount of time the CPU spends working on tasks that are not related to gaming. This can help reduce CPU-induced latency and make sure that the CPU is focusing on the game.

NVIDIA Reflex

Nvidia Reflex works with compatible games to minimize the time it takes for an input to be registered on the screen. This is done by reducing the number of frames that need to be rendered before input is registered, and by reducing the number of frame buffers that are used by the game.
