VLC is a popular media player used by millions of people. It is an open-source media player by Video LAN. VLC stands for Video LAN client. VLC supports a wide range of video and audio formats. So, you just need a single software to play most videos. If you regularly use VLC, I recommend you learn VLC keyboard shortcuts and VLC hotkeys to be a VLC power user. Keyboard shortcuts help you perform some tasks quicker than the mouse. For example, hit space to play or pause video.
