Blinkit has launched a new RuPay-powered NCMC Bharat Yatra Card in India. The card is designed to make public transport payments simple across multiple cities. It removes the need to carry different metro or bus cards for each city.
The announcement was made by Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, who said the card supports instant UPI top ups and does not require KYC. The card is priced at ₹50 and is currently being delivered through Blinkit in select cities.
What is the NCMC Bharat Yatra Card?
The NCMC Bharat Yatra Card is based on the National Common Mobility Card system. NCMC is a government-backed initiative created to offer one common payment card for transport systems across India.
It works as a contactless card that can be used for metro travel, buses, parking, and even retail payments where RuPay is accepted. The idea is to let people travel across cities using one card instead of separate local transport cards.
Blinkit becomes one of the first quick commerce platforms in India to deliver a public transport card directly to homes. The Bharat Yatra Card has been launched on Blinkit and is powered by RuPay. The card is issued in partnership with Pine Labs.
Where can the card be used?
The NCMC Bharat Yatra Card can be used in metro systems, buses, and parking locations that support NCMC. It is meant for inter-city use, so users do not need to buy a new card when traveling to another city.
As of now, Blinkit is delivering the card in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. Actual acceptance depends on whether the local transport system in a city supports NCMC.
Apart from transport, the card can also be used for regular payments at RuPay-enabled merchant locations.
How can you recharge the card?
One of the key features of the Bharat Yatra Card is instant UPI recharge. Users can top up the card balance in real time using UPI. This removes the need to stand in queues or visit physical counters for recharge.
Is KYC required?
No. The Bharat Yatra Card does not require KYC. This makes it easy for anyone to buy and start using the card immediately.
