Back in July 2022, Instagram introduced a Dual Camera feature for Reels and Stories. This feature lets you take photos or record videos using both the rear and front cameras at the same time. So, you can record any incident along with your own reaction in the same video. This feature was copied from a popular social media app BeReal which became popular in early 2022. Now the dual camera feature is available to all users. If you want to record videos using the Dual Camera feature, you can open the Instagram app and try capturing a new Story or Reel on the app. In this tutorial, I will tell you how you can use the Dual Camera feature on the Instagram app.
Dual Camera feature on Instagram Story and Reels
First of all, Open the Instagram app. Now Swipe from Left to right or click the + icon at the top right corner. By default, it goes to the Story creator page. You can also move to Reels if you want to shoot a Reel. Now tap the down arrow icon on the left side of the screen. It will reveal a few more icons including a Dual camera.
It will open a small rectangle with a front camera preview. You can drag this rectangle to anywhere on the screen where you want the front camera video to appear over the recording of the rear camera. When you are ready, Tap the camera icon to capture your image or record the video.
This process to enable the Dual camera feature is the same for Reels. You will find this option after tapping the down arrow icon from the tools line on the left side of the screen. The good thing is that the front camera preview can be shifted to anywhere on the screen as per your need.
This feature made BeReal really popular. That’s the reason Instagram added the same in its app. It can be used to capture beautiful moments along with your own reaction at the same time. People who usually record vlogs can use this feature to capture memories and share them with their followers. Travel vloggers will surely find this feature helpful.
