For the past few hours, businesses around the world have been suffering due to the BSOD error on Windows systems. Most businesses including TV broadcasters, banks, airlines, stores, and others are down due to this error. I have already reported how this BSOD error occurred after CrowdStrike update has impacted several businesses including IT companies across the globe.

We now know that the problem is due to a faulty update pushed by CrowdStrike. The company has already rolled back the update. But systems that already received updates are facing problems. But there’s a workaround to fix the problem and get the system up again.

Here are the steps.

First of all, Boot the system into Safe Mode or Windows Recovery Environment.
Once your system opens in Safe Mode, navigate to the directory:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike

Here, find and delete the file C-00000291*.sys

Restart the system.

These steps face Windows to boot into a Safe Mode where third-party drivers don’t run. So, CrowdStrike’s kernel-level drivers also won’t load and the system will open in Safe mode. Now we are deleting the faulty driver on the disk to fix the error.

But users who are using BitLocker or don’t have admin rights cannot delete the faulty drivers. These users need to wait for the update.
