Twitter

Twitter has decided to discontinue the free access to Twitter API starting February 9. The company will now charge for using Twitter API to monetize the platform.

The Tweet confirms that the company will end support for both v1.1 and v2 of its Twitter API. Recently, It also suspended API access of many popular Twitter clients such as Tweetbot and Twitterrific. So, most third-party Twitter apps were forced to shut their apps.

Twitter’s API is used for several apps and tools for offering different services. Some of the apps have made a Twitter client to offer a better Twitter experience. Other tools use APIs for automating tweets, writing a thread, getting Tweet analytics, and more. If free API access will not be available, most such tools will have to either shut down or start charging their users.
