Cloudflare adds a free VPN to its 1.1.1.1 app

Cloudflare has announced that it is adding a free VPN to its 1.1.1.1 DNS app that the company launched exactly a year ago on the same day.

The newly added VPN service is called ‘Wrap’ that reroutes your traffic to make it faster. The company also claims that the service has been optimized for mobile devices to offer privacy and security.

Cloudflare uses WireGuard VPN protocol and claims that its VPN service shouldn’t drain the battery as faster as in other VPN apps. Wrap will also reduce the data consumption by caching and compressing content where possible.

If you use Wrap, all apps will use a secure connection. If there is an unencrypted connections, it will also be encrypted automatically.

Cloudflare also claims that they don’t write any user-identifiable log data. They also promise not to sell your browsing data or use it to target advertising.

The basic version of Wrap has been added into the 1.1.1.1 app and it is completely free. The company is also working on a premium version of Warp and it will be Calle Wrap+. This app will be faster.

Wrap is not yet available to all 1.1.1.1. users yet. You can place your name on a waitlist in the app by updating the existing 1.1.1.1 app to the latest version and signing up. You will be notified when it is available for you.

Cloudflare also confirmed that the desktop version of 1.1.1.1 is coming soon.
