The remake of Silent Hill 2 has reached an important milestone. Developer Bloober Team has confirmed that the game has now sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.
The survival horror remake was first released in October 2024 for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Later, it also arrived on the Xbox Series X and Series S in November. Since its launch, the game has continued to attract both longtime fans and new players.
According to the latest figures shared by Bloober Team, the total of 5 million copies includes physical shipments, digital sales, and copies distributed through subscription services. However, the number does not include direct sales.
Reaching 5 million copies is a significant achievement for a horror game remake. The original Silent Hill 2, released in 2001, is widely considered one of the most influential survival horror games ever made. Because of its strong story and psychological horror elements, the remake generated a lot of attention even before its launch.
The remake rebuilds the classic game with modern graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and updated controls while keeping the core story intact. Players once again follow James Sunderland as he travels to the mysterious town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his deceased wife.
The strong sales numbers show that there is still huge interest in the Silent Hill franchise. It also proves that carefully made remakes of classic games can attract both nostalgic players and a new generation of gamers.
