The OnePlus 16 is still months away from its official launch, but new leaks have already revealed several key details about the upcoming flagship smartphone. According to a recent leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, the next OnePlus flagship may use a new high-end processor that has not been officially announced yet.

Earlier rumors suggested that the OnePlus 16 would be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. However, the latest information claims the device could instead feature a more powerful processor with the model number SM8975. This chip is expected to be marketed as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. If this turns out to be true, the OnePlus 16 could become one of the first smartphones to use this new flagship chipset.

The processor is also rumored to be built using a 2nm manufacturing process, which could bring improvements in both performance and power efficiency.

The leak also says the chipset may be paired with the latest LPDDR6 RAM, which should offer faster speeds compared to the LPDDR5 memory used in current smartphones.

The leak also reveals some details about the camera setup. According to the tipster, the current engineering sample of the OnePlus 16 features a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. If this information is accurate, it could be a major upgrade in the phone’s zoom capabilities.

Periscope cameras allow smartphones to achieve higher optical zoom by using a folded lens system. A 200MP sensor could also help capture more detailed zoom shots.

Several other specifications of the OnePlus 16 have also appeared in previous leaks. The phone is expected to feature BOE X5 OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, Improved ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 9,000mAh battery, and 120W wired fast charging.

If these specifications turn out to be accurate, the OnePlus 16 could offer a major upgrade in battery life and display performance compared to current flagship smartphones.

At the moment, these details are based on leaks and have not been confirmed by OnePlus. The company has not announced any official information about the OnePlus 16 yet.
