As already confirmed, Nothing today launched its latest smartphone, the Nothing Phone (4a), in India. The device is the successor to last year’s Phone (3a) and starts at Rs. 31,999.

The device has redesigned Glyph lights. The single rectangular Glyph Bar houses 63 mini-LEDs arranged in seven squares. It is up to 40 percent brighter than the previous version and promises no light leakage or yellow fringing.

The Phone (4a) features a large 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. The display panel has 10-bit colour, HDR10+, and peak brightness of 4,500 nits. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

The Phone (4a) retains the brand’s signature transparent design but adds a new pill-shaped aluminium camera bar. The rear panel is reinforced for 34 percent more bend resistance compared to its predecessor. The device also has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

The Glyph lighting system is now a single rectangular bar with 63 mini-LEDs arranged in seven squares. Nothing says the new Glyph is 40 percent brighter than before, reaching up to 3,500 nits, with zero light leakage and no yellow fringing.

The phone runs Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1, with promises of three Android updates and six years of security patches. The Essential Key and Essential Space remain, with slight repositioning for easier access.

The camera setup has been upgraded as well. It has a 50MP main camera with a Samsung GN9 sensor and OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front camera. The highlight is a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, replacing the 2x telephoto lens in the previous model. The camera system supports 7x lossless zoom, up to 70x digital zoom, and 4K video recording at 30fps.

The phone supports 5G (SA/NSA) and dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and USB Type-C. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and USB Type-C audio.

The Indian version packs a 5,400mAh battery, while the global variant has a 5,080mAh battery. The device supports 50W wired charging, reaching 50 percent in 22 minutes and a full charge in 56 minutes. The battery is designed to maintain over 90 percent capacity even after 1,200 charge cycles. Wireless charging is not supported.
